Two years after Axolotl was acquired in 2010, Stella was born. From the beginning, we wanted to build products – specifically, patient-centric products – but we got very busy right off the bat providing much-needed HIE Consulting and building healthcare technology solutions for long-term clients from the Axolotl days. At the same time, however, as challenging as it was, we managed to pursue our primary dream – building products of our own, such as Stella iQHD (data quality scorecard) and Stella Prism (clinical data analytics platform), which were acquired by Ciitizen (now part of Invitae) in 2020.

One of our most influential offerings has been Stella Equinox, a cloud-based EMR specifically built to overcome barriers to care for underserved patients in remote areas. Our early managers traveled throughout the deserts and mountains of Pakistan setting up remote clinics to pilot telemedicine programs there. As Hussnain Khursheed, the Director of Business Development and Sales at Stella, says, “Stella Equinox covers a part of society that has been ignored, which does not have access to basic healthcare services.”

Stella hopes to bring Equinox to many more people who need it throughout the world. Our Equinox clients include clinics in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which are integrated with Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) Malaffi (the first HIE in the Middle East), Riayati and Nabidh. Currently, we are working on bringing Equinox to emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. That’s because we believe that everyone deserves equal access to quality healthcare.

For now, Stella has plans to keep growing, to invest in emerging markets, and to keep improving patients’ lives through our one-of-a-kind offering – our ability to build tailored healthcare solutions for our clients from a company that truly wants to make a difference.
