Interface Engineer

Summary Description

As an Interface Engineer, you will be a critical member of a small, innovative team working with a variety of customers to deploy state-of-the-art healthcare applications and connect them to legacy systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the CIO’s leadership, work with customers to document issues, plan solutions, and deploy tools and interfaces to drive projects to completion
  • Collaborate with product management and leadership team in understanding requirements, proposing innovative solutions, and bringing those solutions to production
  • Produce detailed documentation of current, proposed, and/or newly-created interfaces, following best practices and technology standards/policies
  • Provide healthcare IT subject matter expertise, technical guidance, and manage day-to-day relationships with customers

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 2+ years’ experience working in healthcare software integrations, using HL7, XML, or other related integration protocols
  • 2+ years’ experience with Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Ensemble, or other healthcare interface engines
  • 2+ years’ experience in application software implementation and/or interface development, preferably including functional experience with major clinical systems and products associated with provider order entry, medication administration, charting, patient safety, PACS, Electronic Medical Record, or Lab systems
  • Experience working in Java, JavaScript, or other similar languages
  • Experience in Analyzing Information, Interface Design, Software Documentation, Teamwork, and Software Requirements Analysis
  • Understand XML, RDBMS technologies (primarily SQL & Oracle), Java, JavaScript, HTML, XSL, XSLT, DOM
  • Proven ability to understand and implement multi-component integrated solutions
  • Working knowledge of Server Operating Systems (both Windows & Unix)
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, particularly clinical workflow processes and procedures, and messaging standards (e.g. HL7 and HIPAA)
  • Strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects or tasks at one time
  • Proven technical analytical and problem solving skills
  • Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience. Master’s Degree is a plus.

Work Environment

Virtual/office environment with up to 50% travel to client sites
